SharePoint Add-in Retirement & Our New Event Model
As part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and seamless collaboration, we want to update you on important changes regarding Microsoft’s SharePoint Add-in model and how WorkPoint is proactively adapting to ensure your solutions remain robust, future-ready, and easy to manage.
Roll-out Plan: Phased and Carefully Managed
- WorkPoint will deploy and activate the Webhooks Event Model over the next 6 months for all solutions, prioritizing those dependent on the deprecation April 2026.
- Phase 1: Webhooks will be registered on all sites, running in parallel with the existing event engine at first
- Phase 2: Activation of webhooks, replacing the remote event receivers.
- Throughout the rollout and activation, WorkPoint will closely monitor the platform, and our dedicated team will be ready to assist.
Timeline
- November 2025: Webhook event model deployed to WorkPoint 365.
- November 2025 – February 2026: Webhooks registered on all sites.
- January – Summer 2026: Gradual activation of the new event model across all solutions.
- By Summer 2026: Full transition expected to be complete.
What You Need to Do
- No Action Required: For most solutions, no action is needed from partners or customers. The only functional change is related to Delete Triggers. So, if you are using Delete Triggers either through WorkPoint Automate system processes or WorkPoint Event Bus, you might need to consult your WorkPoint partner.
- Performance: Events triggered via standard SharePoint UI/API may be slightly slower, however events triggered via WorkPoint API or Automate will not notice any change. We recommend that you use WorkPoint API or WorkPoint Automate for as much as possible to ensure optimal end-user performance.
