Important Update to Event Processing
With WorkPoint 4.28, we are starting the phased activation of our new event engine, which replaces Microsoft’s retiring SharePoint Add‑in model. This update is fully managed by WorkPoint, and customers will be onboarded gradually over the coming months.
What this means for you
Most of your daily work will continue as usual. However, during the transition you may notice a minor change:
Events triggered directly in SharePoint may take a little longer
Actions carried out through standard SharePoint interfaces - such as uploading a document or editing list data - will be processed with about a minute of extra delay - though this may vary depending on activity and load. All events are still processed reliably; they just take a bit longer to be picked up.
Examples include:
- A document number being applied after upload
- Security updates (e.g., new project manager access) taking a little longer to take effect
- Creation of site after adding a new project
WorkPoint Automate remains fast
If you use WorkPoint Automate or WorkPoint Wizards, event processing will stay just as fast as today. These methods send updates directly to the event engine with no added delay.
Our recommendation
For the best experience, we encourage you to use WorkPoint Automate wherever possible.
One important change to be aware of: Delete events
When an item is deleted in SharePoint, it is no longer possible for the system to retrieve information about the deleted item. If your Automate processes use delete triggers, this may impact how those processes run.
