1. Introduction
Stages can be represented in different view modes in the Modern UI version of WorkPoint; Full, History, or Compact mode. You can read more about Stage Management here.
Full mode is the default Stage Rendering Mode and displays the entire stage gate model on the site page. This is exemplified in the red box in the image below:
The Compact Rendering Mode, only the previous stages that the entity has been in, the current stage that the entity is in, and the next stage in the model are displayed on the site page.
2. Use Cases
The following graphics are for demonstration purposes only. The stage band is displayed graphically as demonstrated in the introduction section.
In the following use case, a company has a stage model consisting of 6 stages; stage 1 through 6:
A Project starts in Stage 1, skips step 2, and transitions directly from stage 1 to stage 3. The following stages will be displayed in the Stage band:
If the project then transitions directly from stage 3 to stage 5, skipping stage 4, the following stages will be displayed in the stage band:
3. Requirements
There are currently no requirements associated with the use of the Compact Rendering Mode of Stage Gate models.
4. Configuration
The use of different Stage Rendering Modes, including the Compact Rendering Mode, can be configured in the WorkPoint Administration. Please follow these steps:
- Click the "Home" button of the solution.
- Click the cog icon to access the WorkPoint Administration.
- In the Dashboard of the WorkPoint Administration, click the header of the business module for which you wish to set up Stage Management, including the used Stage Rendering Mode. In this example, we click the header of the Projects module of a Project Management solution.
- From the menu, under "Business Module Options", click "Stage Settings".
- In the "Stage Rendering Mode" section of the Stage Settings page, click the drop down menu and select the preferred rendering mode. In this example, we select the "Compact" mode.
- Click the "Save" button to save the selection.
Entities on the configured business module will now use the selected rendering mode to display the stage model of the entity.
