WorkPoint Foundation

1. Introduction

The WorkPoint Foundation solutions can be used to manage, provide governance and provide overview of sites within a tenant. Using WorkPoint Foundation, WorkPoint Express can provide direct and easy access to existing sites.

WorkPoint Foundation is a powerful starting point and can be extended with all available features if your needs changes over time.

2. Requirements

Use of a WorkPoint Foundation solution requires a WorkPoint Foundation license. If in addition you wish to use a WorkPoint Foundation solution with WorkPoint Express, this requires a WorkPoint Express license as well.

Please contact WorkPoint Sales at sales@workpoint.dk for information about purchasing these licenses.

3. WorkPoint Foundation features and advantages

In this section, you will find information about what WorkPoint Foundation offers your organizations, as well as reasons why you should consider WorkPoint Foundation.

   3.1. Business modules

Business modules are at the very heart of every WorkPoint solution. They are used to store and organize your data, and various tasks and jobs can be carried out on data in business modules.

By default, the WorkPoint Foundation license includes the ability to create a single business module for the solution, but support for more business modules can be purchased as an option.

   3.2. Discover job

With the WorkPoint Discover feature, it is possible to run through all SharePoint site collections on a tenant and add them to a business module in WorkPoint. In this way, an identical entity is created in WorkPoint, and the site and entity are linked together.

A use case for this feature could be an organization which up until now has used SharePoint to store documents for projects they have worked on. Each project has it's own site collection on the organization's tenant, but they want an intuitive and more organized way of structuring and accessing their project sites.

In this case, the organization can purchase a WorkPoint Foundation license and solution, and use the Discover job to search for all the project sites on their tenant. These sites can then be listed in WorkPoint and stored in a business module. All project sites are now organized in one place.

Furthermore, the organization can now also purchase a WorkPoint Express license, and use the WorkPoint Express Office plugin to easily manage and access their documents and other items related to their projects.

You can read much more about the WorkPoint Discover job in this article.

3.3. Use WorkPoint Express to organize your sites

Transform Microsoft Office into an intuitive frontend for your sites and provide your organization with an intelligent plugin to use Microsoft Outlook as the primary, everyday tool for managing emails, documents, agreements, contacts, and dialogue.

WorkPoint Express offers many intelligent tools, enabling efficient handling of documents and other items. You can read more about WorkPoint Express on the WorkPoint website.

3.4. Group sites by entity types*

If your organization works with different types of sites for e.g. companies, projects and contacts, each type of site can be organized in it's individual business module.

Using this kind of grouping makes it possible to keep a clear overview and track of entities of different types.

*Note that this functionality requires the purchase of additional business modules for the solution.

3.5. Clear and easy upgrade path to WorkPoint 365

If your organization has been using WorkPoint Foundation for a while and feel ready to take another steps into the world of WorkPoint and it's many offerings, upgrading from WorkPoint Foundation to a fully functional WorkPoint 365 solution is easy.
