1. Introduction
In WorkPoint Express it is possible to preview documents and images before opening them i n their respective programs, as show in the following images:
To enable this feature, please follow the configuration steps in this article.
Note that this configuration must be performed by a user with tenant administrator privileges.
2. Requirements
There are no license requirements related to the use of the Preview feature in WorkPoint Express.
3. Configuration
For the "Preview" button to appear when right-clicking a supported document type, a small configuration is required. Follow these steps:
- In WorkPoint Express, click the "Menu" button.
- In the menu, click "Settings".
- Double-click the solution for which the Preview feature should be enabled.
- Enter the tenant of the solution into the "Tenant" field. If my solution was located at https://calperIT.sharepoint.com/sites/ProjectManagement, the tenant would be "calperIT".
- Click the "OK" button. You will need to sign in to confirm the changes to the site settings.
Next, we need to consent to the Microsoft Graph:
- In the WorkPoint Express settings, go to the "System" tab.
- In the "System" tab, go to the "Miscellaneous" tab.
- In the "Consent Links" section, select "WorkPoint Express (Graph)" as indicated.
- Type in your tenant in the text field. This tenant would be the same as typed into the site settings in pt. 4.
- Click "Open Link".
- Sign in using a tenant administrator account.
- Click the "Next" button, type in your password and click "Sign in".
- Expand and read what you consent to by granting the permissions.
- To continue, click "Accept". You will be redirected to the WorkPoint website.
In the WorkPoint Express settings, we can now close the settings window:
- In the WorkPoint Express settings window, click "Close".
- In the dialogue box asking to restart WorkPoint Express, click "Yes".
- In WorkPoint Express, click the "Menu" button.
- In the menu, click "Logout".
- Click "Click here to login". Log in as you normally would using your Office 365 credentials.
You should now be able to right-click supported file types and select "Preview":
If you do not see the "Preview" button despite having followed the steps above, please ensure that the following option is enabled in the WorkPoint Express behaviour settings:
4. End User Guide
To open a preview of a document or image, simply right-click the item and select "Preview":
- Right-click the document or image you wish to preview.
- In the menu, click "Preview". Note that you might get prompted to log in.
The preview window appears:
Note that the preview window stays open if you select a new item to preview. You can simply select a new item in WorkPoint Express, and the preview window will display a preview of the contents of the item (given that the preview feature supports the item type).

If the Preview button does not appear in the right-click menu of items despite having performed the configuration in this article, please verify that WorkPoint Express is set up to show properties in a separate window:
- In the WorkPoint Express settings, go to the "Behaviour" tab.
- Enable "Show properties in separate window".
