1. Introduction
Since WorkPoint 6.0.1 WorkPoint Express has been updated with a new modern user interface. The aim is to improve the user experience when using the WorkPoint Express plugin by bringing a modern look and feel to the plugin, along with various other quality of life changes. The key changes and updates will be described in this article.
WorkPoint encourages users to go explore the new user interface to get to know it.
2. Graphical user interface update
The most eye-catching change from earlier versions of WorkPoint Express and WorkPoint Express version 6.0.1 is probably the graphical updates to the user interface.
For a couple of comparisons, we can look at the following image:
- Icons have been scaled up a bit to make them clearer, and each entry in both the entity explorer and the contents window of lists and libraries now have more space and feels less cramped up.
- Another change is the removal of the "+" icons next to expandable lists and libraries (and entities). Entities, lists, and libraries can be expanded by double-clicking them. Hitting the right arrow key on the keyboard will also expand the selected entity, list, or library, while the left arrow key will collapse the selected element. WorkPoint Express 6.0.1 supports full keyboard movement.
3. Relocation of elements
Some aspects of WorkPoint Express has since version 6.0.1 been relocated to make their positioning more intuitive as to where one would expect to find that setting or action.
An example of this is the Solution Selector. If one has multiple solutions set up in WorkPoint Express, these can now be switched between in the bottom of WorkPoint Express:
- The active solution can be changed by clicking "Connected to [solution name]" and selecting the desired solution. The currently active solution is marked with orange, and clicking another solution will switch between them.
- Since the solution picker has been removed from the top section, the business module selector, a view selector, and the search bar for the business module explorer has been moved to the top.
- It is now possible to use views when browsing the business module lists.
- Actions for the currently selected library has been moved to the right of the library search bar and view selector. From here, the properties window can be opened, folders and files can be created, etc.
- A new status indicator has been added to WorkPoint Express. This light shows green if there are currently no issues with your WorkPoint Express. If the user triggers an error the light switches to red and a number will indicate how many errors are currently logged. Clicking the red status light will reveal the Issue Overview window from where the error can be inspected, as shown in the following image:
4. Notes
Note that the new graphical look and feel is also present in windows such as the "Quick Journalize" window:
