1. Introduction
The Browser Search feature makes it possible to search through multiple WorkPoint business modules at once in WorkPoint Express. This way of searching is quicker and more efficient than using the "All" setting for business module when performing standard search in WorkPoint Express. It does, however, introduce a certain delay in the searchability of newly created entities, as they will need to be indexed before becoming available for this search feature. This delay, however, typically takes only a few minutes.
Please be aware that this feature works only using WorkPoint Express with WorkPoint 365. WorkPoint Server is currently not supported.
2. Requirements
There are currently no requirements associated with the use of this feature.
3. Configuration
3.1. Enabling browser search
Enabling the "Browser Search" feature can be done from the WorkPoint Express Settings:
- In WorkPoint Express, click the "Settings" button.
- Click the "Settings" menu item.
- In the "WorkPoint Express Settings" page, navigate to the "Behaviour" tab.
- In the "WorkPoint search tree" section, enable the "Use browser search (only WorkPoint 365) - Preview" feature by checking the check mark.
- Click the "Close" button.
To apply these settings, WorkPoint Express needs to restart:
- Click the "Yes" button to restart WorkPoint Express and apply the new settings.
3.2. Customization of edit property dialog
How edits to entity properties is done can be customized in the WorkPoint Express settings:
- Click the "Settings" icon in WorkPoint Express.
- Click the "Settings" menu item.
- In the WorkPoint Express settings window, click the "System" tab.
- In the System tab, click the "Prefered Dialogs" tab.
- Select your preferred dialogue for editing an entity's properties. Available choices are the native WorkPoint Express panel for editing properties (Express), by opening the edit entity wizard (Wizard), or SharePoint's standard editing form.
