1. Introduction

The Browser Search feature makes it possible to search through multiple WorkPoint business modules at once in WorkPoint Express. This way of searching is quicker and more efficient than using the "All" setting for business module when performing standard search in WorkPoint Express. It does, however, introduce a certain delay in the searchability of newly created entities, as they will need to be indexed before becoming available for this search feature. This delay, however, typically takes only a few minutes.

This search feature returns only Entities in WorkPoint.

Please be aware that this feature works only using WorkPoint Express with WorkPoint 365. WorkPoint Server is currently not supported.

2. Requirements

There are currently no requirements associated with the use of this feature.

3. Configuration

3.2. Customization of edit property dialog

How edits to entity properties is done can be customized in the WorkPoint Express settings:

  1. Click the "Settings" icon in WorkPoint Express.
  2. Click the "Settings" menu item.
  1. In the WorkPoint Express settings window, click the "System" tab.
  2. In the System tab, click the "Miscellaneous" tab.
  3. Select your preferred dialogue for editing an entity's properties. Available choices are the native WorkPoint Express panel for editing properties (Express), or by opening the edit entity wizard (Wizard)

4. End User Guide

Once configured, the search behaviour of WorkPoint Express changes. WorkPoint Express will now look something like in the following image:

  1. The search field can be used to type search queries for the system to use in searching for entities.
  2. Resulting entities are displayed in a list format.
  3. Paging is enabled so that if there are many results for a search, they are split into more pages.

   4.1. Searching for an entity

In this example we will search for an entity and navigate to that entity's documents library. The Entity we are looking for is called "Hovedstadens Letbane I/S", but we will search for the city in which the project is registered, which is "København" (Copenhagen).

  1. A search query of "København" is typed into the search field.
  2. The "Hovedstadens Letbane I/S" entity is found and displayed in the results list. The entity is right-clicked to open the menu for that entity.
  3. The "Open" button will open the entity in WorkPoint Express. Alternatively the entity can be double-clicked to open it in WorkPoint Express.

This takes us to the standard Entity view in WorkPoint Express:

  1. The document library of the entity is available, and we can open it by clicking it.
  2. The contents of the documents library of the entity is displayed in a list format.

Note that whenever a search query is typed into the search field, a new search is automatically started and results will be shown.

   4.2. Editing an entity's properties

       4.2.1. Using Express

In this example we will search for an entity in order to edit it's properties. The entity we are looking for is called "Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB), but we will just search for "boldklub":

  1. A search query of "boldklub" is typed into the search field.
  2. The "Kjøbenhavns Boldklub (KB)" entity is found and displayed in the results list. Left-clicking the entity opens the Properties section in the bottom of WorkPoint Express.
  3. The Properties section displays the properties of the entity.
  4. Clicking the "Edit properties" button allows the user to edit the properties of the entity.
  1. Properties can be edited from the "Properties" window.

Note that whenever a search query is typed into the search field, a new search is automatically started and results will be shown.

       4.2.2. Using Wizard

In this example we will search for an entity in order to edit it's properties using the Wizard.

This opens the Edit Entity wizard:

  1. Edits to the meta data of the entity can be made in the Wizard.
  2. To save the new information, click the "Save" button.

Note that whenever a search query is typed into the search field, a new search is automatically started and results will be shown.

   4.3. Filtering

Filtering can be applied to the results of searching:

  1. In this example, no search query is given, so that we potentially have a lot of results showing in the results list.
  2. Clicking the "Filter" button opens the filter options.
  3. Various filtering options are available, e.g. DisplayAuthor, the date when the item was written, and item size. In this example, we have only applied the tile filter, such that we only view items written one month ago at the earliest. Filtering is dynamic, meaning that whenever a change is made to the filter, the results are immediately updated.
  4. The results in the results list are filtered using the settings applied.
