On the 12th of October 2026, we will be deploying an update to WorkPoint Express 365 introducing some exciting new features.
In this article, we provide a summary of some of the new exciting features and improvements, plus provide detail about any administration actions required to enable new functionality..
New Features
Shared Mailbox Support
This release introduces support for using Express 365 in Shared Mailboxes. Once the update is published and available, any user that has Express 365 in their main user profile will also be able to open and pin the Express 365 Task Pane in any Shared mailbox they have access to. As shown in the image below, a user with access to a Contact@ mailbox (1) can open the Express 365 Add-In (2). All permissions, navigation and preferences behave exactly as if viewed from the users' main mailbox profile.
Important: Shared Mailbox support is included in this release of WorkPoint Express 365. However, the feature will not be available until Microsoft approves and publishes the updated Express 365 add-in manifest through the Office Add-In Store.
At the time of writing, the update is still under review. Once approved, it may take 48-72 hours for the updated manifest to become available in subscribing tenants. We will update this article once Microsoft approval is received.
Once approved - if you plan to use Express 365 with Shared Mailboxes, or want to use the Message Tagging and Message Read Status features now supported by WorkPoint Automate journalisation flows, additional tenant permissions will be required. Guidance on the available permission levels and their intended use cases will be added to the Tenant Permissions for Express 365 article shortly.
No action is required if you do not plan to use Shared Mailboxes or these additional message-related features. Express 365 will continue to operate as it does today. Users will only be prompted for the additional permissions when attempting to use functionality that requires them. Existing Express 365 functionality remains unaffected if these permissions are not granted.

Zendesk ticket IDs in parentheses
- Open in New Outlook: Fixed an issue where Process Builder actions could not correctly open WorkPoint sites from New Outlook. (62724)
- Folder Drag-and-Drop: Resolved an issue where Outlook folders could still be dragged into WorkPoint Express 365 even though the scenario is not supported in modern Outlook clients. (63708)
- Grouped Library Views: Fixed an issue where document libraries using grouped views could display an error when grouped by managed metadata columns. (63773)
- Journalize Email Selection: Fixed an issue where drag-to-journalize could file a different copy of an email than the one selected.
- My Tools Menu: Resolved an issue where the My Tools menu could become unusable for the last row in list views.
